Staff Correspondent: Seventy students who passed the 2026 SSC, Dakhil and equivalent examinations have been honoured in Lakshmipur, with organisers seeking to turn their early academic success into motivation for the next stage of their education.

The recognition was organised by the People’s Lakshmipur Education Trust (PLET) at the auditorium of Lakshmipur Residential School and College on Saturday morning. 

The students also received virtual mentoring certificates as part of the initiative.

The event, which began at 10am, brought together students, teachers, parents, educationists and members of PLET.

Advocate Monir Hossain Sumon, a lawyer at the Bangladesh Supreme Court and Assistant Public Prosecutor at Dhaka Judge Court, attended as chief guest. Abdul Latif, principal of Lakshmipur Residential School and College and a former associate professor at Lakshmipur Government College, chaired the event.

PLET chief coordinator Md Tarek Hossain attended as a special guest, while the programme was moderated by Hasibul Hossain, vice-principal of Lakshmipur Residential School and College.

Speaking to the students, Advocate Monir Hossain Sumon said recognition at an early stage of academic life should serve as a starting point rather than an endpoint.

He urged them to build on their results in the years ahead while maintaining honesty, responsibility and a strong sense of humanity alongside academic excellence.

Speakers at the programme said recognition can give young students confidence in their abilities and encourage them to set clearer goals for higher education and their future careers.

They also stressed that good results alone would not be enough to prepare students for the challenges ahead. Alongside academic achievement, they encouraged the students to develop practical skills, perseverance, ethical values and a sense of responsibility.

For the 70 students, the event offered more than a certificate or a moment of applause. It was intended as an early reminder that their recent success carries an opportunity — and a responsibility — to keep learning and growing.

PLET organisers said the recognition programme is part of the organisation’s wider efforts to support students through scholarships, skills-development programmes and other educational initiatives.
