

A training programme titled “Procurement and Supply Chain Management for Small and Women Entrepreneurs” was held today, 9 August 2026, at the office of Young Women for Development Rights and Climate (YWDRC) in Rampura-Banasree, Dhaka. The training was organized with the objective of strengthening the business capacity of small and women entrepreneurs, particularly in effective procurement, supplier selection, inventory management, and improving business profitability.
The training was coordinated and led by Ms. Nusrat Sultana Afroj, Executive Chairperson of Young Women for Development Rights and Climate (YWDRC), who served as the Course Coordinator and Lead Trainer.
Small women entrepreneurs from the Khilgaon area participated in the training. The sessions provided practical knowledge on effective procurement strategies, identifying and selecting reliable suppliers, understanding wholesale and retail pricing, assessing product quality, managing inventory, increasing sales, maintaining profit-and-loss records, and selecting products based on customer demand.
The training emphasized that sound planning, systematic record-keeping, quality products, ethical business practices, and customer trust are fundamental to transforming a small enterprise into a sustainable and growing business.
The training programme was supported by Nari Unnayan Shakti, Global Workforce Services, and Forum for Culture and Human Development.
Other trainers and facilitators included Dr. Afroja Parvin, Executive Director of Nari Unnayan Shakti; Mr. Abdul Momen, Project Coordinator; Ms. Selina Khatun, an official of YWDRC; and Ms. Zarin Tasnim, a BBA student at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and a volunteer with Nari Unnayan Shakti. The training also featured inspiring success stories from women entrepreneurs who had previously received training and capital support from Nari Unnayan Shakti.
The entrepreneurs included Chamona Khatun, a three-piece clothing entrepreneur; Najma Khatun and Rabia Begum, tea-stall entrepreneurs; Rehena Begum, a vegetable entrepreneur; and Rekha Akter and Nipa Akter, who are engaged in the clothing business.
They shared their practical experiences of starting and managing small businesses, overcoming challenges, utilizing training and financial support, and gradually strengthening their livelihoods. Their experiences provided valuable motivation and practical learning for the participating women entrepreneurs.
The organizers emphasized that similar initiatives will continue to be undertaken to promote women's economic empowerment, entrepreneurship development, sustainable livelihoods, and the long-term growth of small businesses.
Key Recommendations has been shared for Small Business Growth. The training concluded with a commitment to strengthen the capacity of women entrepreneurs through practical skills development, access to knowledge and resources, business mentoring, and continued community-based support.
