Allegations of Fund Collection in the Name of Agro-Tourism Project in Narsingdi’s Shibpur -

Staff Reporter | The Bangladesh Today

Allegations have emerged against a company named Diamond Resort Limited for collecting large sums of money from the public in the name of an agro-tourism project in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi.

According to several complainants, the company attracted investors by promising high monthly returns and offering commissions for bringing in new members. Victims claim that although returns were paid for the first few months, the payments were later stopped. They also allege that requests to withdraw the principal investment are being delayed on various grounds, leaving many investors in financial uncertainty.

Sources associated with the matter suggest that the project placed significant emphasis on recruiting new members, with incentives such as bonuses and commissions. This has raised questions regarding the sustainability and structure of the business model.

Investors reported that the company offered multiple investment packages ranging from BDT 300,000 to BDT 1.15 million. Promotional campaigns also highlighted plans to develop a modern resort on approximately 100 bighas of land in the area. However, several investors have expressed concerns about the actual progress and authenticity of the project.

Some complainants further alleged that visually appealing designs and projected plans were used during promotions, which they now believe may not reflect the reality on the ground. Questions have also been raised regarding the company’s office operations and accessibility.

Attempts were made to contact the company’s representatives for their response, but no statement was received at the time of publication.

Economic analysts advise that individuals should thoroughly verify the legal status, project viability, and financial structure of any investment opportunity before committing funds. They particularly warn against schemes that heavily rely on member recruitment and commission-based returns.
