Zabihullah calls for swift implementation of BNP’s election manifesto

Prime Minister's Adviser on Public Administration Ismail Zabihullah today called for faster implementation of the BNP's election manifesto, directing officials to avoid bureaucratic complexities through closer personal communication and better inter-institutional coordination.

The adviser gave the directive while addressing as the chief guest a meeting at the Public Administration Ministry's conference room at the Bangladesh Secretariat to review the progress of implementing the 180-day action plan formulated in line with the government's election manifesto, said a press release.

State Minister for Public Administration Abdul Bari, MP, was present.

The adviser said the Public Administration Ministry is working to establish a merit-based public administration, recruit five lakh government employees through a transparent and swift process, and build an accountable and people-friendly administration in line with the current government's election manifesto.

He said an initiative has been taken to complete pension applications and administrative approvals for government officials entirely online under the Public Administration Ministry.

As part of the initiative, the formal launch of the process has been made through the online administrative approval of the pension of one retired additional secretary from the Public Administration Ministry under a pilot project, he added.

He further said instructions have been issued to introduce the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the Government Employee Management System (GEMS) for online transfer and posting activities. This will make administrative activities more transparent, faster and more efficient.

The adviser also directed the authorities concerned to expedite work to achieve the target of filling 100 percent of vacant posts under the 180-day action plan formulated in accordance with the government's election manifesto.

With Senior Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry Ehsanul Hoque in the chair, heads of the ministry's subordinate departments and agencies, senior ministry officials and divisional commissioners through an online platform attended the event.
