Dhaka : Community Bank Bangladesh PLC. has appointed Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin as its Managing Director. He formally assumed office on Monday, August 03, 2026.

On his first day in office, the Directors, senior management, executives and employees of the Bank accorded him a warm reception and extended their heartfelt congratulations.

A highly accomplished banking professional with over 25 years of distinguished experience, Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin possesses an extensive track record of leadership across Retail Banking, SME & Agriculture Banking, Corporate Banking, Transaction Banking, Credit Risk Management and Branch Banking. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated excellence in strategic business leadership, balance sheet optimization, sustainable business growth, customer relationship management, risk governance, operational excellence and organizational transformation.

Prior to joining Community Bank Bangladesh PLC., Mr. Emtiaz served as the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Padma Bank PLC., where he joined on March 3, 2023. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Bank’s business operations, strengthening customer relationships, enhancing business productivity and implementing strategic initiatives aimed at sustainable growth. He subsequently assumed the additional responsibilities of Chief Recovery Officer (CRO) and Chief Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer (CAMLCO), providing leadership in recovery management, regulatory compliance and governance.

Before joining Padma Bank PLC., Mr. Emtiaz served as the Head of Retail Banking, Head of SME & Agriculture Banking and Head of Corporate Banking at Premier Bank PLC. Earlier in his career, he held key leadership and management positions at Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh, HSBC Bangladesh, Eastern Bank PLC. (EBL) and Dhaka Bank PLC., where he made significant contributions in business development, relationship management, credit risk, retail and corporate banking, SME & Agriculture Banking and branch operations.

Mr. Emtiaz obtained his BSS (Honours) and MSS degrees in Economics from the University of Chittagong. He later earned an MBA in Marketing from the Asian University of Bangladesh.

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, he has been actively involved in the development of Bangladesh’s banking community. He served as the Founder Senior Vice President of the Bankers’ Club of Bangladesh Limited and was subsequently elected President of the organization, reflecting his commitment to professional excellence, leadership development and collaboration within the banking sector.

A firm believer in continuous learning, Mr. Emtiaz has participated in numerous executive leadership programmes, professional development courses, workshops and international seminars conducted both in Bangladesh and abroad, further enriching his expertise in banking, leadership, governance and strategic management.
