30.92pc Covid-19 positivity recorded in Rangpur division
RANGPUR, – Rangpur division recorded 30.92 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 107 fresh cases were reported after testing 346 newly collected samples at the two Covid-19 laboratories today.
“The Covid-19 positivity rate continues showing mostly a steady trend during the last couple of days in the division,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 28.63 percent on Wednesday, 28.02 percent on Tuesday, 26.92 percent on Monday, 27.36 percent on Sunday, 27.38 percent on Saturday and 25.27 percent on Friday last in the division.
Among the 107 new patients, 61 were reported positive after diagnosing 158 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the daily positivity rate of 38.61 percent today.
“The 61 new patients include 40 from Rangpur, eight each from Kurigram and Gaibandha and five from Lalmonirhat districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6:35 pm.
On the other hand, 46 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 24.47 percent today.
“The 46 new Covid-19 infected patients include 32 from Dinajpur, eight from Thakurgaon, five Panchagarh and one from Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 43,093 as 107 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
“The district-wise break up of 43,093 patients stands at 9,358 in Rangpur, 2,524 in Panchagarh, 3,370 in Nilphamari, 2,155 in Lalmonirhat, 3,284 in Kurigram, 5,832 in Thakurgaon, 12,322 in Dinajpur and 3,627 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
