Shooter Tumpa’s health condition shows some sign of improvement

DHAKA, – Celebrated national shooter Zakia Sultana Tumpa, who has been in ICU from the last week at a city’s hospital after testing COVID-19 positive, her condition is showing some sign of improvement.

Tumpa’s family said though she is still in critical condition her health is showing a little improvement and her family sought ‘doa’ (blessing) for her speedy recovery.

Tumpa, who finished at fourth place after an exciting final at the women’s 10m Air Rifle event of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, remained isolated at her home in Lalmonirhat but as her health condition suddenly deteriorated, she was admitted to the city’s local hospital last week.

Tumpa, a student of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan, has participated in several international and national competitions on behalf of the country.

She won silver in the last SA Games in Nepal before winning the bronze medal in the 10-meter air rifles event of 2016 SA Games in India.

Besides, she won gold, silver and bronze medals in the 2017 national shooting championship.

Her fans and well wishers have also appealed for the best possible treatment.
