President mourns death of artist Mrinal Kanti Datta

DHAKA,  – President M Abdul Hamid today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artist and veteran freedom fighter Mrinal Kanti Datta.

In a condolence message, the President said people would remember Mrinal’s contribution to local cultural arena of Kishoreganj for long with respect.

The head of the state prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Seventy seven year old Mrinal Kanti Datta, an artist of the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra (SBBK), the radio broadcasting centre of Bangalis during the country’s Liberation War in 1971, was a classmate of President Hamid.

He breathed his last at 10 PM yesterday at the Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital in Kishoreganj. Earlier, he was hospitalized there with COVID-19 infection.
