In a renewed effort to promote a safer and more inclusive society, Xenovia Union organised a seminar on preventing violence against women and children in Rangpur, bringing together youth leaders, volunteers, community representatives and social activists to discuss practical solutions to one of Bangladesh’s most pressing social challenges.

The seminar focused on raising public awareness, encouraging community engagement, and highlighting the collective responsibility of citizens, institutions and policymakers in preventing gender-based violence and ensuring the protection of children. Speakers stressed that violence against women and children is not merely a legal issue but a societal concern that requires long-term commitment through education, awareness and active community participation.

Throughout the programme, participants discussed the importance of creating safe environments where women and children can live free from fear, discrimination and abuse. The discussions also emphasised the role of young people in driving social change and promoting respect, equality and human dignity within their communities.

Among those present at the seminar were Xenovia Union’s president Al Hasan Milad and secretary general Shahi Al Sadat, along with other members of the organisation, volunteers and invited guests. They reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to empowering young people to become advocates for social justice and to contribute to building communities where every woman and every child can live in safety and dignity.

Addressing the gathering, representatives of Xenovia Union underscored the importance of collaborative initiatives involving educational institutions, families, civil society organisations and local communities to effectively combat violence and strengthen preventive measures. They noted that sustainable change can only be achieved through continuous awareness campaigns, education and collective action.

Participants also exchanged ideas on improving access to support services for survivors, promoting legal awareness, and encouraging communities to report incidents of abuse without fear or stigma. The seminar concluded with a call for stronger partnerships between youth-led organisations and stakeholders to ensure a future where violence against women and children has no place in society.

The organisers said Xenovia Union will continue to conduct awareness campaigns, educational programmes and community-based initiatives across Bangladesh as part of its ongoing mission to promote human rights, equality and social wellbeing.
