The rapid expansion of digital platforms has created new opportunities for communication, business and access to information. At the same time, growing dependence on online services has exposed users to a range of cybersecurity threats.

Young entrepreneur Nazmul Haque Sojib believes that creating a safer digital environment requires a combination of responsible online behaviour, stronger security practices and cooperation among different stakeholders.

According to Sojib, users often become victims of cyber incidents because they overlook basic security measures. He recommends that internet users regularly review the security of their online accounts, avoid reusing passwords across multiple platforms and exercise caution before sharing personal information online.

He also stressed the importance of understanding how digital platforms work. Users should carefully verify messages, emails and online offers before responding to them, particularly when they involve requests for passwords, verification codes, financial information or access to personal accounts.

“Digital safety is not only a technical issue. It is also a matter of everyday behaviour. A single careless decision online can sometimes have serious consequences,” said Sojib.

He believes cybersecurity education should begin at an early age. Schools and colleges, he said, can play an important role in helping students understand privacy, online responsibility, misinformation, digital harassment and the risks associated with sharing personal information.

According to him, young people should also be encouraged to develop practical technology skills. Such skills can help them use digital platforms more safely while creating opportunities in education, freelancing and technology-based employment.

Sojib is the chief executive officer of Take Down Fighters (TDF), an IT company involved in technology-related services, including social media security, digital branding and web development. The organisation works with more than 100 young people in Bangladesh and abroad, according to information available about its activities.

Alongside his professional activities, Sojib has been involved in cybersecurity awareness initiatives. He has provided technical guidance to people facing online harassment and digital blackmail and has participated in awareness activities related to online gambling and harmful digital content.

He has also been involved in providing assistance to the administration on various cybersecurity-related matters, according to information related to his activities.

Beyond the technology sector, Sojib has been involved in public-interest initiatives concerning tourism, the environment and local communities. His activities have included awareness initiatives related to Tanguar Haor, as well as the rivers and environment of Sunamganj.

“Technology should improve people’s lives, but its benefits can only be fully realised when people know how to use it responsibly and safely. I want to contribute to building a more aware and responsible digital society,” he said.

Nazmul Haque Sojib is from Khalapara village in Selbarash Union of Dharmapasha upazila in Sunamganj. He is currently pursuing postgraduate studies in Political Science at Ananda Mohan College in Mymensingh. He previously completed his undergraduate studies at Abu Abbas College in Netrakona.
