Chapainawabganj Journalist Forum-Dhaka election Mobarok elected president, Sabuj general secretary

TBT Desk : With a commitment to strengthening professional unity among media workers, enhancing mutual cooperation and playing a more active role in issues concerning the interests of Chapainawabganj, the Chapainawabganj Journalist Forum, Dhaka (CJFD) has elected its new leadership.

At the organisation’s Annual General Meeting, Md Fardaus Mobarok, Chief News Editor of Daily TIMES of Bangladesh, was elected president, while Ziaul Hoque Sabuj, Business Editor of Banglavision, was elected general secretary.

Ashraful Islam, acting news editor of Daily Amader Shomoy, was elected vice-president. A full 15-member executive committee was formed under their leadership for the 2026–28 term.

The AGM and biennial election were held on Wednesday, 8 July, at a restaurant in the capital. The new committee was formed through the votes of journalists from Chapainawabganj working at various national media outlets in Dhaka.

The meeting was chaired by the organisation’s outgoing president and City Editor of Khaborer Kagoj, Abdullah Al Mamun. The election was conducted by the organisation’s founding president and editor of Life TV, Anwar Haq.

Special guest remarks were delivered by the organisation’s founding general secretary, Md Khadimul Islam, who is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Communication at Eastern New Mexico University in the United States.

At the meeting, the new executive committee elected Meshbahul Haque, senior reporter of Dainik Samakal, as joint general secretary; Mim Obaidullah, Country Editor (Online) of Dainik Bhorer Kagoj, as organising secretary; Mohammad Ali, staff reporter of Khaborer Kagoj, as finance secretary; Taskina Yeasmin, senior reporter of Bangladesh Kontho, as office secretary; and Sahanat Masum (Masum), editor of Muhurto News, as secretary for publicity, publication and research.

The seven executive members of the 15-member committee are: founding president Anwar Hossain; outgoing president Abdullah Al Mamun; Faizul Islam, assistant editor of Dainik Ittefaq; Jahangir Alam, senior reporter of Khaborer Kagoj; Md Al Amin, senior reporter of Manabzamin; Md Mamunur Rashid, editor of Nakshi Dot TV; and Syed Rashidul Hasan, reporter of Ekattor Television.

At the event, members of both the newly elected and outgoing committees expressed their determination to make the overall activities of CJFD more constructive and dynamic. They also called upon members to work together for professional welfare, mutual cooperation and highlighting the development prospects of Chapainawabganj at the national level.

It may be mentioned that the Chapainawabganj Journalist Forum, Dhaka was established on 18 June 2014 with the aim of promoting the professional development of journalists from Chapainawabganj working in Dhaka and raising issues concerning the rights and interests of the district at the national level.
