Govt takes projects to increase fisheries production

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 17, 2018 (BSS) – The government has undertaken some projects, those are being implemented to increase fisheries production in the country.

“Fisheries Department under Fisheries and Livestock Ministry has been implementing 13 development projects during the current financial year 2018-2019,” Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda said this, while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member M Nazrul Islam Chowdhury of Chattogram-14 in
the Jatiya Sangsad.

He said the projects are Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Capacity Building project, Nigachhi Society base fisheries cultivation project, Fisheries Development project in Rangpur division, ‘Kuchia’ and Crab farming and research project at selected areas in Bangladesh, Brood Bank setting project (Pahse-3), Expansion of Fisheries Farming
Technology Service project (Phase-2) at union level, Fisheries Development project in greater Cumilla district, Fisheries Production Enhancement project through reconstruction of water bodies, fisheries development farming project in greater Jashore district, National Agricultural Technology Programme phase-II, Enhanced Coastal
Fisheries (Eco-fish BD), Technical Support for Stock Assessment of Marine Fisheries Resources in Bangladesh and Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries project in Bangladesh.

The minister informed the House that the government has allocated Taka 341.28 crore for implementation of the 13 projects during the current fiscal.
