Monitoring CCTV coverage in classrooms planned to improve quality education: Education Minister

Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said the government will bring secondary and higher secondary educational institutions under strict monitoring to improve the quality of education across the country.

“Initiatives will be taken to install CCTV cameras in every classroom to ensure that teaching is conducted properly,” he said.

He made the remarks as the chief guest while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 210th Foundation Training Course at the National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM) in the capital.

"A central monitoring cell will be set up so that educational institutions can be monitored properly. Through this system, it will be possible to watch any classroom live at any time," he said.

Highlighting the importance of a well learning environment, the minister said many educational institutions in the country have unhygienic and unclean toilets, discouraging both teachers and students from using those.

He stressed that toilets in 100 percent of educational institutions must be kept clean and hygienic, warning that no negligence in this regard would be tolerated.

Emphasising the need for enhancing teachers’ professional dignity, Milon said improving the quality of education requires raising the social and institutional status of the teachers.

He said the country's education system should be reformed in such a way that the talented individuals are naturally encouraged to join the teaching profession.

The programme was chaired by NAEM Director General Prof. Dr. Wasim Md Mazbahul Haque.

Additional Secretary (Admin & Finance) of Secondary and Higher Education Division Md. Shahjahan Miah and Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Bangladesh, Dhaka, Prof. Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel attended the event as special guests.

Senior NAEM officials and participants of the foundation training course were also present at the programme.
