EU ambassador lauds Bangladesh's disaster management efforts

European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller has lauded the Bangladesh's disaster management activities as he paid a courtesy call on Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu at his ministry office in the Secretariat here today.

Referring to the country's achievements in disaster preparedness, emergency relief operations and post-disaster rehabilitation, the ambassador described Bangladesh as a role model in the field, said a PID release this afternoon. 

During the meeting, Michael Miller assured Bangladesh of providing the EU’s continuous support in strengthening earthquake campaigns, early warning systems and rescue centres. 

The relations between Bangladesh and the EU member states would become closer and deeper under the elected government, the ambassador hoped.

Thanking the EU for its continued support to Bangladesh's development and humanitarian initiatives, the Disaster and Relief Minister also sought more EU’s cooperation to ensure the safe, dignified and sustainable repatriation of the forcibly displaced Rohingya nationals to Myanmar.

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief M Iqbal Hossain and Ministry Secretary Saidur Rahman Khan were also present there.
