CFA Society Bangladesh marks decade of excellence with gala night

TBT DESK: CFA Society Bangladesh celebrated its 10th Anniversary Gala Night in Dhaka on Saturday, marking a decade of contributions to the country's investment profession and the development of the financial sector.

Held at the Sheraton Dhaka, the event brought together policymakers, regulators, senior industry leaders, academicians, CFA charterholders and finance professionals to commemorate the Society’s role in promoting ethical standards, professional education and excellence in the investment industry.

Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, Masud Khan, attended the programme as the chief guest. The keynote address was delivered by M Masrur Reaz, who spoke on the theme, “Conducive Fiscal Policy for a Better Investment Climate.”

The gala was also attended by senior representatives from professional bodies and financial market organisations, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh, Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association and the DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh.

As part of the celebrations, CFA Society Bangladesh honoured leading employers of CFA charterholders in recognition of their contribution to professional excellence and talent development in the financial sector. The recognised institutions included BRAC Bank PLC, City Bank PLC, EDGE AMC, IDLC Finance Ltd, Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC Bangladesh and United Commercial Bank PLC, among others.

The Society also recognised universities with the highest number of CFA Programme registrations, including Bangladesh University of Professionals, BRAC University, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka, Institute of Business Administration, North South University, and University of Dhaka.

In addition, the Society honoured its top two volunteers for the 2025-26 period.

Over the past decade, CFA Society Bangladesh has worked to promote the globally recognised CFA designation, support continuing professional education, engage with regulators and policymakers, and create development opportunities for finance and investment professionals.

Speaking at the event, Society leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the investment profession and supporting the growth of Bangladesh’s capital markets and wider financial sector.

CFA Society Bangladesh currently has more than 131 CFA charterholders and around 80 associate members. It is a member society of the global CFA Institute, which represents more than 170,000 CFA charterholders worldwide through around 160 member societies.
