President to attend parliament to witness budget presentation

Dhaka, – President Abdul Hamid will attend the parliament at 3pm on Thursday to witness the presentation of the national budget for fiscal 2021-22, his office said, report UNB.

The budget session ( 13th session) of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad began Wednesday( June 2) under the shadow the Covid-19 pandemic with a limited number of MPs.

The president called the session, exercising the power bestowed upon him by Article 72 (1) of the Constitution .

The national budget, the country’s 50th and also the 21st by the incumbent Awami League-led government will be placed in parliament on Thursday (3 June).

Business Advisory Committee on parliament will finalise the duration and other activities of the budget session while Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will deliver his budget speech at 3 pm, for the third time in a row.

A limited number of MPs , required to fulfil quorum in the House, will be asked to attend the session on a rotation basis, sources at the Parliament Secretariat said.
