Power generation 10,500MW to 11,400MW daily: Nasrul

SANGSAD BHABAN  – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said the government is generating 10,500 MW-11,400MW electricity on demand basis daily.

“We have brought 92 percent people under electricity coverage,” he said this while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Morshed Alam of Noakhali-2 in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The state minister said currently the electricity generation capacity reached to 20,133MW (captive and renewable energy), adding, “Presently public sector has 8,986MW power generation capacity and private sector generation capacity 8,057MW.”

Nasrul informed the House that power plants usually produce electricity on the basis of daily demand as per merit order dispatch, adding, “On an average per unit of electricity generation cost was Taka 6.25 during the financial year of 2017-2018.”
