The Rohingyas will be repatriated with full civic dignity : UNGA president

The president of the United Nations General Assembly Volkan Bozkir visited the Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar.The UNGA President arrived in Cox’s Bazar by plane at 9am on Wednesday (May 26). From there he went straight to the Rohingya camp. He went to Kutupalong camp and met with some Rohingya representatives.

During this time, he discussed various issues with the Rohingya related to their interests, said Additional Commissioner for Refugee Relief and Repatriation, Shamsu-Douza Nayan.

Shamsu-DouzaNayan said that he later observed the camp damaged in the recent fire from the watch tower of Balukhali8W camp.
He then visited a Turkish hospital built by the Turkish government for the victims of the March 22 fire at Balukhali camp. There he toured various aspects of the rebuilt hospital.

During the visit, he praised the government and local people of Bangladesh for their humanitarian assistance to the Rohingya.
The UNGA President emphasized the importance of repatriating Rohingya to Myanmar with full civil dignity.He also mentioned the difficult living conditions of the Rohingyas, the damage caused by the recent fires, and the deaths of Rohingyas at different times on the waterways.

Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mostafa Osman Turan and Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Shah Rezwan Hayat were present on the occasion. Earlier in 2016, the UN Secretary General visited the Rohingya camp.
