Labour Minister stresses quality work over number of projects

Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury today said more importance must be given to the quality of work rather than the number of projects.

He made the remarks while inspecting completed and ongoing development projects in Goainghat Upazila of the district and inaugurating new work.

During the day-long inspection of development projects, the minister provided special directives regarding local public interest and environmental protection.

In the morning, the minister inspected the newly constructed road connecting Pukash Government Primary School.

Expressing satisfaction with the quality of work during the inspection, he told those concerned, "We must give more importance to the quality of work than the number of projects."

The minister stated that it must be ensured that all construction work is durable and sustainable. He also directed that densely populated areas be given the highest priority when undertaking new projects.

Later, he inspected the proposed site for the construction of a police outpost adjacent to Jaflong Bridge. There, he urged the construction of hygienic toilets for police personnel.

In the afternoon, speaking to local media regarding reactivating the stone quarry, the minister informed that a high-level meeting would be held very soon with the Ministry of Environment and other relevant departments regarding stone extraction.

Regarding youth employment in Sylhet, he said, "There is a plan to construct an international-standard training center in Sylhet, where training will be provided in various technical trades including driving, catering, plumbing, as well as teaching Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages."

Furthermore, the minister inaugurated the five-story academic building of Bir Mangal High School and the development work of the Gahara-Doarikhil road from GC Road.
