JS body for increasing capacity of security forces in CHT

DHAKA  – The parliamentary standing committee on Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs today recommended increasing capacity of security forces in CHT areas so that they can further strengthen their activities there.

The recommendation was made at its 33rd meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban today with its chairman R.A.M. Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury in the chair.

Committee members State Minister for Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, Firoza Begum Chinu and MA Awal were present at the meeting, among others.

The committee discussed in detail about different ongoing development projects of different agencies, organisations in the CHT area and the present situation of Karnaphuli Paper Mills.

The JS body also proposed to take opinion of local lawmakers before implementing projects conducted by UNDP in the hill tracts areas.

Secretary and other top officials of Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, JS secretariat were also present at the meeting, among others.
