House Committee of 13th JS holds its 1st meeting

The first meeting of the House Committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) was held today at the JS Bhaban with its Committee Chairman and Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam in the chair.

Committee members Rakibul Islam, Miah Nuruddin Ahmad Apu, Mohamed Koysor Ahmed, Md Shohidul Islam, Nayab Yusuf Ahmed, SM Jahangir Hossain, Md Saiful Alam and Md Abul Hasnat attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed various issues including Rules 250 and 251 of the Rules of Procedure of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad and related matters, progress of civil, electrical/mechanical and wood workshop renovation works of MPs' residential buildings located at Manik Mia Avenue and Nakhalpara, renovation of 156 office rooms at MP Hostel in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, and ensuring 24-hour emergency medical services for Members of Parliament through adequate deployment of specialist doctors and medical officers at the Parliament Medical Centre, said a press release.

Discussions were also held on strengthening round-the-clock security arrangements at the flats located at Manik Mia Avenue and Nakhalpara and posting necessary manpower to the Members' Building Branch following previous practice.

The meeting offered prayers seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of the wife of the Speaker of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad and prayed for strength for the bereaved family.

Special prayers were also offered seeking blessings of Almighty Allah for the successful journey of the new parliament and the welfare of the people of Bangladesh.

The committee directed the authorities concerned to complete furniture making, repair and necessary renovation of MPs' residential buildings as quickly as possible while ensuring quality standards.

The committee also recommended the committee formed to identify sound system problems in the parliament session hall to submit its report with recommendations by April 3, 2026.

To modernize the Parliament Medical Centre and expand healthcare services, the meeting recommended deployment of cardiac specialists, procurement of medical equipment, ICU ambulance, freezer ambulance for dead bodies and procurement of medicines from reputed companies.

Chief Engineer, Additional Chief Engineer, officials of the Public Works Department, Additional Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, Sergeant-at-Arms and other concerned officials were present at the meeting.
