Projects to be implemented based on actual needs: Road Transport Minister

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam today said that the development projects will be implemented based on actual needs considering the public interests.

He made the remarks while responding to the questions from the journalists after laying the foundation stone of a bridge over the Ramnabad River at Galachipa Upazila of the district.
The minister also stated that uninterrupted supply of fuel to public transport will be ensured for Eid journey in order to reduce passenger sufferings.

The event was attended by State Minister for Road Transport Habibur Rashid and State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur. Senior officials of the relevant ministries, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Patuakhali, Superintendent of Police (SP) and local political leaders were also present.

According to the project details, the bridge will have a total length of 882.81 meters and a width of 10.25 meters. The span arrangement will include 18 spans of 42.68 meters (PC Girder) and one 100-meter steel bow truss span, making a total of 19 spans. The bridge will have 18 piers and two abutments.

The project will include 214 piles, with a maximum diameter of 1.50 meters and a maximum length of 63 meters. The total approach road will be 1.40 kilometers, including 500 meters on the Haridebpur side and 100 meters on the Galachipa side. The bridge will have a vertical navigation clearance of 18.30 meters and a horizontal navigation clearance of 76.20 meters.
