Govt orders mobile courts to monitor fuel supply

The government has instructed the authorities concerned to conduct mobile courts across the country to ensure smooth fuel supply and maintain discipline in the market.
A letter containing the directive has been issued to the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all districts, official sources said here today.

According to the directive, signed by Nahida Akter Tania, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Cabinet Division, the move aims to prevent artificial shortages in the fuel market, stop illegal hoarding and curb the sale of fuel at prices higher than the government-fixed rate.

The directive also called for stronger monitoring to prevent open market sales of fuel oil and curb smuggling. District administrations have been requested to conduct mobile court drives for this purpose.

The Cabinet Division said the initiative was taken following a request from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.

Earlier, the ministry sent a letter requesting district administrations to operate mobile courts to prevent illegal stockpiling, overpricing and smuggling of fuel oil.
