Mirza Fakhrul inspects development works at Dasherkandi sewage treatment plant

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today visited the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant in the capital’s Dasherkandi area and inspected its ongoing development works.

During the visit, the minister reviewed the overall progress of the project and exchanged views with the relevant officials and staff.

Emphasising the need to ensure the highest standards of service, he said effective sewage management is crucial for safeguarding public health and protecting the urban environment.

The minister also stressed the need to increase the use of modern technology to provide a sustainable solution to Dhaka’s longstanding drainage problems.

At a meeting held there, senior officials, including the Deputy Managing Director of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority and the Executive Engineer of the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant, briefed the minister on the project’s current status, future plans and measures taken to improve service quality.

Expressing optimism, the minister said, “Through coordinated initiatives and the use of modern technology, the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant will be established as an effective and environmentally friendly sanitation model for the residents of Dhaka.”
