Minimum fitra fixed at Tk 110, maximum Tk 2,805

This year the minimum fitra rate has been fixed at Taka 110, while and maximum at Taka 2,805 per person.

The decision was taken at the National Fitra Fixation Committee meeting held in the conference room of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque here this morning.

President of National Fitra Fixing Committee and Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Maulana Mufti Abdul Maleque presided over the meeting, an Islamic Foundation press release said.

Fitra, a donation, is paid by the well-off Muslims to poor prior to offering Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.

Last year, the minimum amount of fitra was also fixed at Taka 110 and maximum Taka 2,805 per person.

As per the Islamic law, the fitra can be paid with any other food items like flour, barley, raisins, dates and cheese. 

The fitra has been fixed as per the current market price of flour, barley, dates, raisin and cheese collected from all the divisions.

The Muslims can pay the fitra according to his financial capacity with any particular item or the current market price of these food items.

Member of Islamic Foundation Board of Governors Maulana Mahfujul Haque, director of Department of Dye and Culture at the foundation Dr Mohammad Harunur Rashid and Mufti Maulana Mohammad Abdullah were, among other Islami scholars, attended the meeting.
