24,947 recover from Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI,  – With recoveries of 36 more coronavirus infected persons on Tuesday, the total number of cured patients from the virus (Covid-19) reached 24,947 in the division, said an official report today.

A total of 3,176 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, it said.

Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health, said the death toll from the virus rose to 418, including 265 in Bogura and 59 in Rajshahi, with two more fatalities reported afresh today.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,942 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 6,085 have already been released.

Meanwhile, with the detection of 160 new positive cases here, the daily infection rate shows a slight falling compared to the previous day’s figure of 165, raising the total number of infected patients to 27,656, Dr Habibul said.

Of the new positive cases, the highest 50 were detected in Bogura, followed by 29 in Rajshahi city, 26 in Sirajganj, 24 in Naogaon, 20 in Pabna, five in Natore, four in Joypurhat and two in Chapainawabganj districts.

With the newly detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 patients now stands at 6,784 in Rajshahi including 5,264 in its city, 864 in Chapainawabganj, 1,746 in Naogaon, 1,337 in Natore, 1,453 in Joypurhat, 10,637 in Bogura, 2,980 in Sirajganj and 1,855 in Pabna.

On the other hand, 78 more persons have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 23 others were released from quarantine in the division over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

A total of 67,641 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 66,052 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

Meanwhile, a total of 6,26,233 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Tuesday last since the countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7.

Of them, 1,227 people including 535 female were inoculated on Tuesday, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder.

He also said 112 people including 46 female received vaccines in Rajshahi, 171 including 81 female in Chapainawabganj, 116 including 52 female in Natore, 80 including 39 female in Naogaon Tuesday.

Besides, a total of 191 persons including 112 female got vaccines in Pabna, 157 including 67 female in Sirajganj and 400 including 138 female in Bogura on the day, he added.
