Sakif Shamim Launches VirtuED: Asia’s First Immersive Medical Anatomy Learning App

Sakif Shamim has officially inaugurated VirtuED, recognized as Asia's first medical anatomy learning app. This launch marks the formal journey of VirtucareBD, an initiative dedicated to overcoming the long-standing limitations of the healthcare sector in Bangladesh by establishing a modern, technology-driven, and smart health system. The platform aims to integrate world-class technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) directly into mainstream medicine. This integration is set to begin a new era in complex surgery, advanced diagnosis, and digital patient management, ultimately elevating the standards of the national public health system to an international level. Additionally, VirtucareBD has introduced surgical simulation and virtual hospital concepts to make medical education and services more realistic and accessible.

VirtucareBD functions as a high-tech ecosystem that creates a bridge between traditional medical methods and modern science. Its methodology is not limited to theoretical education but provides support at every level of clinical practice. Through AR technology, doctors can now observe a patient's complex internal structures in 3D before performing surgery. This serves as a digital map for surgeons, reducing the possibility of errors and ensuring patient safety. Furthermore, VR creates an artificial environment where young physicians can practice complex medical procedures repeatedly without any risk. As a result, the quality of patient care in hospitals increases significantly, and doctors can work with greater confidence.

The flagship component of this ecosystem, VirtuED, is Asia’s first immersive digital anatomy learning platform. Through this app, medical students have the opportunity to learn complex human anatomy using AR, VR, and 3D visualization. VirtuED moves medical education beyond the limitations of textbooks to create an interactive and future-oriented learning experience. During the inauguration, Sakif Shamim, the Managing Director of VirtucareBD and Deputy Managing Director of Labaid, stated that this is not just a single technology initiative. Instead, it is a well-planned effort to establish scientific standards in the health sector by unifying global medical data, modern research, and future-ready technology. He further mentioned that the core philosophy and goal of VirtucareBD are to improve the quality of medical education, increase physician skills, and ensure patient safety through data-driven decisions, immersive simulation, and remote assistance.

The event was attended by renowned physicians from various Labaid Group institutions as well as prominent experts from leading hospitals across the country. Through the active participation and exchange of views among experts in medical education, surgery, oncology, and digital health, the launch of VirtucareBD was recognized as a significant and timely initiative. To reach the top of the healthcare sector in the near future, VirtucareBD is making large investments in its Research and Development (R&D) department. The platform's tele-assistance technology is expected to bring a radical change to healthcare in rural and suburban areas. Through this, specialists from the capital or abroad can provide direct guidance to local doctors in complex situations using AR devices.

These technological advancements are expected to establish VirtucareBD as one of the most influential health-tech brands in South Asia. The platform is built on the belief that advanced technology should not be for expensive hospitals alone but should reach the doorsteps of ordinary people. Using this platform will increase the skills of doctors and allow the general public to receive advanced medical services at affordable prices. This transformation of the health sector is an essential part of fulfilling the dream of a Digital Bangladesh. This bold initiative by VirtucareBD will introduce Bangladeshi doctors to international-standard innovation and play a leading role in building a prosperous, disease-free country.
