KU extends closure till May 22 due to pandemic

KHULNA, – The authorities of Khulna (KU) on Thursday extended its closure time till May 22, following a fresh surge of Covid-19 cases and deaths in the current summer season.

Following a government notification, in a view of University Grants Commission (UGC) letter, the KU authorities made the closure decision in a meeting on the KU campus with its acting vice-chancellor professor Dr Hosne Ara in the chair, said a KU press release issued by KU acting registrar Professor Khan Golam Quddus last evening.

Treasurer, deans and heads of different disciplines and student affairs director, among others, attended the meeting.

All KU activities will remain closed till May 22, says the release, adding that registrar office will open from 10am to 2pm on Sunday and Wednesday maintaining health guidelines and all emergency services including electricity, water supply, treatment, estate and security section will remain open.

Besides, emergency classes through online will continue and ongoing research activities and use of laboratories will continue under their respective supervisors. Medical officers, residential teachers and dormitory students have been asked to stay on the campus during KU closure time, the press release also said.
