In an exclusive conversation with The Bangladesh Today’s Dhaka head office correspondent, Mohammad Assaduzzaman Faruque.
The Bangladesh Today:
Mr. Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa, congratulations on receiving the BNP nomination for the upcoming National Parliamentary Election, and thank you for giving us your valuable time.
You are a young and emerging political face who is rapidly gaining popularity among the people of Banshkhali. To begin with—what inspired you to enter politics?
Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa:
“Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim.”
Thank you.
From an early age, I have seen politics as a means to serve the people. My late father and our entire family have long been politically aware. For generations, they were devoted workers of the patriotic and nationalist philosophy of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in Banshkhali, South Chattogram, and the city of Chattogram. Their lifelong dedication to the sovereignty and self-determination of Bangladesh inspired me to become a partner in the comprehensive development of our region.
I believe that the development of Banshkhali, empowerment of educated youth, and politics based on justice are the keys to building a new Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Today:
Banshkhali is a traditional and diverse upazila. If you are elected as a Member of Parliament, what will be your priority initiatives for the people?
Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa:
As you all know, geographically Banshkhali is a developing area. Therefore, I want to focus particularly on three key sectors—
1. Education and Employment:
The youth of Banshkhali are talented but often lag behind due to lack of opportunities. I plan to establish IT training centers and skill development institutes.
2. Tourism and Economy:
Banshkhali’s beaches, hills, and biodiversity hold immense potential for eco-tourism. With proper planning, this could become a major source of livelihood for thousands.
3. Environment and Infrastructure:
I will prioritize river and coastal protection, road development, and ensuring electricity facilities across Banshkhali.
The Bangladesh Today:
Many are hopeful about the new generation within the BNP. How do you plan to connect the party’s ideology with the aspirations of the youth?
Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa:
I believe the main strength of BNP lies in its democratic values and in the people—especially the youth.
We want to transform the party into a modern, technology-based organization where young people play an active role in policy-making. In Banshkhali, I am forming a “Youth Citizens’ Forum,” where we will listen to the youth, take social initiatives, and work together to solve local problems.
The Bangladesh Today:
Given the current political reality, what challenges do you foresee in the Banshkhali constituency?
Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa:
The biggest challenge is the politics of fear and discouragement. People want change, but they are afraid to speak up.
I want to encourage courage, restore people’s right to vote, and my message is clear—
“Banshkhali’s development will be in the hands of its people.”
The Bangladesh Today:
Lastly, what is your message to the voters of Banshkhali?
Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa:
I have only one thing to say-
“Banshkhali will change if we ourselves choose to bring that change.”
As a young politician, I want to be a symbol of new politics, transparent leadership, and people’s hopes.
I urge everyone—
“Vote for BNP, vote for the symbol of change.”
In conclusion:
Through my close interaction with the people of this diverse land of Banshkhali, I have realized one thing very clearly—
a common message is resonating from every corner:
“Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa – Young Leadership, New Hope.”
On behalf of all nationalist activists, supporters, and well-wishers of Banshkhali, I express our deepest gratitude to our beloved party—the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, and to the pride of our youth, Mr. Tarique Rahman, for entrusting us with such faith and sacred responsibility.
Inshallah, as in the past, this time too, we will make sure that the country’s largest and most democratic party achieves victory in Chattogram-16 and establishes it as a model parliamentary seat for visionary, modern politics.
With everyone’s prayers, love, and conscious votes, Inshallah, it will be proven that—
“The time for change has come… Banshkhali is ready.”
Bangladesh!.. Jindabad!...
BNP & Tareque Rahman!.. Jindabad!...
