Govt extends armed forces' magistracy power till Feb 28, 2026 

The government has extended the magistracy power granted to commissioned officers of the armed forces with the rank of captain, equivalent, or above till February 28, 2026 from tomorrow. 

Additionally, the magistracy power has been extended to officers on deputation in the Bangladesh Coast Guard and Border Guard Bangladesh, according to a notification issued by the public administration ministry today. 

It said in accordance with Sections 12(1) and 17 of The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, special executive magistracy power is being conferred to those officers across the country for the specified period. 

They have been empowered under Sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133, and 142 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.

Earlier, on September 11 this year, the government extended the executive magistracy power of these officers for 60 days.
