CUMILLA, – Local Government Division (LGD) distributed sewing machines among 300 poor and destitute women of Moynamati union under Burichang upazila of the district today.

Sources said the LGD distributed the sewing machines under its Local Governance Support Project- (LGSP)-3 for human resource development at grassroots level. The project aims at involving destitute women in income generation activities in rural areas.

A distribution function was held on Moynamati union parishad premises at around 11:30 am this morning.

Deputy Director of the Local Government Division Mohammad Shawkat Osman, Mainamati Union Parishad Chairman Md Lalon Haider, Burichang Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Moshammat Sabina Yasmin, District Facilitator SM Shahriar Rahman and all UP members of the union parishad were present on the occasion.

UNO Moshammat Sabina Yasmin told BSS that besides distributing sewing machines, free soap and masks were distributed among more than 300 women under LGSP-3 to help them fight the novel coronavirus.
