DU to open halls from March 13

DHAKA, – The Dhaka University authorities have decided to open the dormitories from March 13 only for the final year and masters students, who will sit for the examinations.

Only students of final year and masters, who will appear in examinations, will be allowed to stay in the hall, DU Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani told BSS.

The decision came from the Academic Council meeting held today at university’s Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, with Vice Chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

All the deans were asked to submit the name of the students, who will sit for exams, within one week, on priority based to the concerned hall office after counseling with the chairman of the departments.

The concerned authorities of dormitories were asked to prepare the halls for the students.

The Proctor said all the students, teachers and concerned were asked to be prepared mentally as the authorities are thinking of opening the university fully.

However, the decision of opening the university will be taken as per governments’ decision based on the recommendations of national advisory committee, he added.

The university authorities have also decided to open all of its academic offices from February 7.

However, students have to leave the halls when all examinations will end.

Due to the coronavirus situation, normal educational activities of Dhaka University, like other educational institutions in the country, have been closed since mid-March last year.
