

TBT DESK: The Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) has elected its new Executive Committee for the 2025–2027 term at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Dhaka on Friday.
Md Sabur Khan, Chairman of Daffodil International University, has been elected as the new Chairman of APUB. Ishtiaque Abedin of American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) has been elected as Secretary General. Benjir Ahmed (North South University) and KBM Moin Uddin Chisty (Victoria University of Bangladesh) were elected Vice Chairmen, reads a press release.
Other key office bearers include Md Rezaul Karim (Southeast University) as Joint Secretary General, and Qayum Reza Chowdhury (University of Asia Pacific) as Treasurer.
The newly elected Executive Committee members are Sadaf Saaz Siddiqi (BRAC University), Faruque Hassan (BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology), Kazi Zahedul Hasan (Central Women’s University), Lutfe M Ayub (Chittagong Independent University), Nowshad Shamsul Arefin (East West University), Abul Quasem Haider (Eastern University), Shafayet Kabir Chowdhury (East Delta University), Didar A Hussain (Independent University, Bangladesh), Md Ashraf Ali (Prime University), Dr Md Mahbubur Rahman (State University of Bangladesh), Mostafa Kamal (The People’s University of Bangladesh), Dr Kazi Anis Ahmed (University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh), and Hafizur Rahman Khan (Varendra University).
The newly formed committee pledged to strengthen the role of private universities in enhancing higher education and contributing to Bangladesh’s national development.
