Young journalist and entrepreneur Shakilur Rahman (Shakil) has been awarded the Global Business and CSR Award 2025 in recognition of his contributions to the fields of digital media and marketing. The award was presented at a recent ceremony held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.
The event was organised by the Asian Journalist Human Rights and Cultural Foundation in association with the Global Media Forum of Bangladesh. Channel i served as the media partner for the programme.
Following the award ceremony, Shakilur Rahman expressed his gratitude, stating that recognition of one's work is always a source of encouragement and that some honours also come with added responsibility. He said, "Any award in recognition of one's work is always a source of motivation and joy. Some awards also add great responsibility. I am thankful to the organisers for considering me worthy of this honour. This is my third recognition in the field of digital media and marketing. I want to continue working in this field because I truly love what I do."
Shakil currently works in the digital media and marketing department of SATV. He began his journalism career in 2014 with Bangladesh's first online news portal, bdnews24.com. Over the years, he has been associated with several organisations, including UNICEF Bangladesh, the Daily Janakantha, and Channel i.
Alongside media professionals from television and print, a total of 38 individuals from diverse sectors were recognised at the event. Notable recipients included film actress Rozina, singer Akhi Alamgir, actresses Runa Khan and Samira Khan Mahi, and model Peya Jannatul.
Shakilur Rahman currently serves as the Joint Secretary of the Cultural Journalists' Forum of Bangladesh (CJFB). He is also a member of the Electronic Media Marketing Association (EMMA), the Bangladesh Cine-Journalist Association (BACHSAS), and the Greater Jashore Journalists' Forum. In addition, he holds the position of Director at Junior Chamber International (JCI) Dhaka Platinum.
