Lamia, mental health advocate, wins Global Youth Leadership Award

Staff Correspondent: Youth leader Lamia, General Secretary of "Let's Talk Mental Health," has received the prestigious Global Youth Leadership Award this year, presented in Nepal. The platform, she states, provided her with the invaluable opportunity to passionately pursue her work in mental health with purpose.

Lamia's unwavering dedication to raising awareness about mental health has garnered her numerous opportunities both within her country and internationally. Her leadership extends to her role as an Executive Board Member of the SAARC Youth Association, further solidifying her influence in youth-led initiatives.

The award ceremony in Nepal brought together delegates from various countries including the USA, Georgia, Indonesia, and Malaysia, highlighting the global recognition of youth contributions to significant causes.

Lamia emphasizes a fundamental truth about well-being: "Here's a simple, undeniable fact: there's no health without mental health. Our minds and bodies are connected; you can't have one without the other functioning well. It's a package deal." This statement underscores her core belief in the holistic nature of health and the critical importance of mental well-being.

Her tireless efforts in fostering dialogue and understanding around mental health have positioned her as a leading voice among young people. Through "Let's Talk Mental Health," Lamia is creating a vital space for discussion, support, and advocacy, aiming to dismantle stigma and ensure mental health is recognized as an integral part of overall health. Her recent award from Nepal is a testament to the profound impact she is making in this crucial field.
