JU BCL celebrates its 73rd founding anniversary

SAVAR,- Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit today celebrated its 73rd founding anniversary on the campus amid festivity.

BCL, the largest student organisation of the country having glorious heritage of struggle and success, came into being on January 4 in 1948 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Marking the day, the student wing of the ruling Awami League has taken various programmes on the campus.

Leaders and activists of the traditional organisation hoisted national flag and placed floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu hall around 12 pm.

Later, they brought out a joyous procession that ended at university’s central Shaheed Minar premises following a rally and cut an anniversary cake.

Vice-presidents of JU BCL Azizur Rahman Lilu, Bayezid Rana Kalince and Mijanur Rahman, Organising Secretaries Abhishek Mandal and Aklema Akter Esha, Joint Secretary Appan Hossain Apon, Deputy Office Secretary M Mainul Hossain Rajon, Deputy International Affairs Secretary Ismail Hossain, Theatre and Debate Secretary Raton Biswas and Assistant Secretary Akhtaruzzaman Sohel, among others, were present at the rally.

Over 200 BCL leaders and activists from both male and female dormitories of the university took part in the programme.
