Press wing debunks Indian media report on CA

Chief Adviser's Press Wing today debunked a recent report of Indian television channel Aaj Tak Bangla on Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

"A report was aired on Indian television channel Aaj Tak Bangla that circulated a picture of Bangladesh Police members being awarded medals by the Chief Adviser on the occasion of Police Week claiming it as a secret picture," the press wing said in a facebook post on its verified page - CA Press Wing Facts.

Claiming that the police uniform has similarity with the attire of Pakistani generals, the recently aired report raised questions, saying, "With whom Chief Adviser Prof Yunus was shaking hands," the statement said.

In fact, 62 members of the Bangladesh Police were awarded medals, for outstanding contribution to service, at Rajarbagh Police Lines on April 29 last.

Among them, the police officers depicted in the picture are: Additional Inspector Generals of Police Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, Mosleh Uddin Ahmed and Md Chibgat Ullah and Deputy Inspector General of Police Kazi Md. Fazlul Karim.

Each of them received the Bangladesh Police Medal for their meritorious service in their respective duties.

This is not a secret picture as the picture was sent to media from the Chief Adviser's Press Wing.

"This report, by Aaj Tak Bangla, has also spread false propaganda involving the Bangladesh Army," the press wing said.

"All of this is a part of a planned propaganda against Bangladesh and it is highly condemnable," the statement read.
