Walton wins excellence in Investment Award 2025

TBT DESK: Bangladesh's leading tech conglomerate, Walton, has received the prestigious "Excellence in Investment Award 2025" in recognition of its significant and impactful contributions to the country's economic development.
The award, conferred by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), was presented under the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) category. The accolade was handed over by Nobel Laureate Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus to S M Mahbubul Alam, Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, during the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 held at the Intercontinental Hotel in the capital.
Also present at the ceremony were BIDA Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury and Lutfey Siddiqi, Chief Adviser's Special Envoy on International Affairs.
Upon receiving the award, Alam expressed his gratitude and highlighted Walton's dedication to sustainable growth, innovation, and job creation. "We are deeply committed to driving technological progress and fostering a greener future. Walton's substantial investments in the high-tech and electronics sectors have already created employment for nearly 100,000 people," he stated.
He further emphasised the company's alignment with the government's vision for a carbon-neutral Bangladesh, revealing that a 6.5 MW rooftop solar project has been installed at Walton's Gazipur headquarters, with another 13.5 MW initiative currently underway. Walton's industrial facilities are now poised to host up to 50 MW in solar capacity, underscoring the brand's ambition to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources and lower carbon emissions.
"Through research, innovation and the adoption of fourth industrial revolution technologies, we are not only enhancing our product offerings but also contributing to the nation's energy and sustainability goals," Alam added.
BIDA introduced the 'Excellence in Investment Award' to celebrate both domestic and foreign investors whose efforts during fiscal years 2021-22 to 2023-24 have notably bolstered Bangladesh's economic resilience and global standing.
This latest recognition further cements Walton's position as a trailblazer in Bangladesh's journey towards industrial modernisation and environmental responsibility.
