10th Kake International Japanese Speech Contest held

Munaseeb Hossain: The tenth Kake International Japanese Language Contest 2020 was held in Dhaka with the aim of creating education and employment opportunities in Japan. Kake International and Meiji Education jointly organized the competition at the office premises of Meiji Education in Dhanmondi area of the capital on Thursday.

10 contestants who completed Japanese Level 5 course took part in it. At the occasion, Fumitsugu Otsuki, Director General, Department of International Affairs, Kake Educational Institute was present as the chief guest while Kurihara, Department of International Affairs, Kake Educational Institute was present as the chief guest at the occasion. Among others, Md Jashim Uddin Bhuiyan, Chairman of Meiji Education, Sadika Akter, Managing Director of Meiji Education, Nahidur Rahman, General Manager of Meiji Education and Saleh Arefin, AGM of Meiji Education were also present at the occasion. Senior Counselor of Meiji Education Ria Rahman hosted the event.

Mizuho Kataguchi, Department Chairman of First College Kanazawa, Yokoie Tomoko, Teacher of Kob International Language School and Yonemitsa, Senior Teacher of Kake Educational Institute were present as judges at the competition.

The chief guest Fumitsugu Otsuki, Director General, Department of International Affairs, Kake Educational Institute in his speech expressed his appreciation for the effort in making the speech contest a reality. He also expressed his deepest gratitude to the Embassy of Japan and the judges and Meiji Education. He added that, Kake Educational Institution is regarded as the largest educational institution in western Japan. In keeping with our founder‘, Tsutomu Kake’s vision, Kake Educational Institution places great emphasis on international education. Kake Educational Institution was established 59 years ago with the founders dream and vision and our first international exchange was held almost 40 years ago. Each year our institution devotes immense effort and many resources to welcoming new international students to Japan and sending our Japanese students abroad. We currently have around 15,000 students enrolled, of which more than 500 are International students representing 11 countries”.

Md Jashim Uddin Bhuiyan, Chairman of Meiji Education in the welcome speech said that ‘This time we organized the speech contest in the online platform due to covid-19 outbreak. High Commission of Japan and Kake International provided outstanding support for the overall arrangement. In this age of globalization, learning other languages besides ones native one is crucially important.’ He added that ‘Japan is the biggest opportunities for our students for higher studies. Easiest language learning procedure, topmost technology, strong economy, world class study program and the scholarship opportunities are encouraging our student’s day by day’.

Kurihara, Department of International Affairs, Kake Educational Institute in her speech said thanked the teachers of Meiji Education for making the Kake International Japanese Language Contest 2020 a reality and also thanked the students for their effort.

At the end of the programme, Md Jashim Uddin Bhuiyan, Chairman of Meiji Education and Sadika Akter, Managing Director of Meiji Education handed over the certificates among the winners of the contest. Md Shamim won the Kake Japanese Speech Contest 2020 while Nurshed Murshed and Abul Kalam became second and third respectively.
