Hepatitis-B vaccination launched in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, – Hepatitis-B vaccination programme was launched among the people of Gaibandha municipality yesterday.

GED Foundation in association with Vaowal Association Development Organization jointly organized a launching ceremony at the hall room of municipality of the district town in Wednesday afternoon.

Mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon addressed as the chief guest and president of Gaibandha Chamber of Commerce and Industry freedom fighter Moksudar Rahman Shahan was present as special guest while Executive Director of GED Foundation Golam Masud presided over .

Upazila Health And Family Planning Officer Dr Waseque Rahamn Talukdar, Medical Officer Dr. Selim Babu while Shampa Dev conducted the event as moderator.

The speakers said more than three per cent of the world’s population are chronically infected by the hepatitis B virus so there is no alternative to Hepatitis-B vaccination programme to save their lives from Hepatitis-B

“The main risk factors for the transmission of HB in Bangladesh have been identified as treatment from quacks, shaving and haircut in salons, beauty parlour shops, body piercing, as well as vaccination against small pox, cholera, dental procedure, intravenous infusion, etc” they said.

The speakers urged all to take vaccine of Hepatitis-B properly from a professional physician to avoid any health hazards .
