Dr. Mannan transformed ICMH-Matuail to a model health institute

Institute of Child and Mother Health, Matuail (ICMH-Matuail) bagged the 2019 Health Minister Award in the category of “Specialized Hospital”. Through this award the hospital has been recognized by World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health Family Welfare for providing excellent health services as well as outperforming its peers. According to WHO, the main goal of the competition is to build resilient health systems in Bangladesh by implementing healthy competition among peers to improve their performance in service delivery and facilities management.

Professor Dr. M A Mannan, the executive director of ICMH-Matuail received the award from the health minister Zahid Meleque. The ceremony held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka was graced by high level representation from the government and multilateral development partners from the health sector.

“This recognition has been a feat achieved by the collaborative effort of physicians, administrative staff members, and all other stakeholders. The institute was established in 1999 with auspicious support from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We resolute to strive for attaining excellency in providing health services in the future”, Dr. Mannan reflects in his speech.

Md. Ibrahim Patwary, a lab technologist at the institute said under Dr. Mannan’s strong leadership the hospital has brought health services to the marginalized people. He promoted service-oriented culture of positivity among all the staff members so that everyone treat patients with great care. We are extremely delighted to have Dr. Mannan as our director.
