DHAKA, – Tamim XI’s young pacer Shoriful Islam insisted that they should come all guns blazing as their return leg match against Mahmudullah XI will be more crucial than the final.

The match starts at 1.30 PM tomorrow (Sunday) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. While a victory would help Tamim XI qualify for the final straightway, Mahmudullah XI’s chance to move to the final will be ruined in case of a defeat. Therefore, a high voltage clash is expected.

“Monday’s match is more important than the final,” Shoriful said here today.

“If we win, we can go to the final. If not, what will happen next cannot be said. herefore, tomorrow’s match is more important. We will play the match like final.”

Mahmudullah XI was in cornered situation after losing two in their three matches. They started the tournament with a four-wicket defeat to Nazmul XI before bouncing back in style, beating Tamim XI by five wickets. However, they were crushed by Nazmul XI in return leg match by 131 runs, a defeat that also spoiled the condition of their run rate.

Tamim XI meanwhile played two matches—losing one and winning one. They conceded a five-wicket defeat to Mahmudullah XI but clawed their way back into the tournament with a 42-run win over Nazmul XI.

Shoriful however has been in superb form after claiming 4-37 in the last game against Nazmul XI. He wants to make the same impact in tomorrow’s match.

Although Shoriful, the member of the World Champion Under-19 team, was supposed to play in the Premier League after winning the Youth World Cup, he did not play due to Corona situation in the country.

“I played a match in the Premier League after the Under-19 World Cup,” said Shoriful, adding that “After that I didn’t get a chance to play for 6-7 months. I came here directly. At the first match I was not sure about my fitness and match situation. Then I played fairly in the second match. It feels good to be back on the field after so long.”
