Ekti Khola Janala: A New Binge Original premiers today

TBT REPORT: Director Vicky Zahed, known for his psycho-thrillers like “Redrum” and the “Punorjonmo” series, returns with a new short film titled “Ekti Khola Janala” (An Open Window). The film, blending horror and suspense, was initially set to release on July 18 but was postponed due to the country’s situation at that time. The highly anticipated film is now set to premiere today, as announced by Binge in a Facebook post on Monday.

“Ekti Khola Janala” is a psychological thriller set in Keshabpur, where a chilling mystery unfolds as nurses in the community become victims of a series of killings. Zahed, widely known for his work in TV dramas and series, returns to his roots in short films with this latest project. “This is another experimental project for me,” Zahed said. “After a long time, I’ve made another short film, and it’s an exciting challenge.”

The film stars Tasnia Farin and Sallha Khanam Nadia as two nurses caught in the eerie events of the story. Farin shared that this is her first time playing such a character, saying, “I’ve always enjoyed psychological thrillers. The story captivated me right away.”

The teaser and posters released earlier suggest a haunting narrative, with scenes of a stormy night, flashes of lightning, and eerie imagery. One poster shows Farin as a nurse holding a stethoscope, while Nadia appears with a syringe in hand, adding to the suspenseful vibe.

Zahed describes the film as an international story adapted to the Bangladeshi context, focusing on two strong female characters facing strange events. The 50-minute film aims to capture the audience’s attention with its dark and suspenseful storyline. “Ekti Khola Janala” promises to be a fresh addition to Zahed’s list of thrilling works, attracting fans of dark thrillers across the country.
