NOAKHALI,  – Police arrested two more persons in connection with the incident of torture of a woman in Begumgunj upazila of Noakhali.

The arrested are Sohag, 21, son of Pora Munshi and Noor Hosain, 30, son of Solaiman. Both are close associates of Delwar, chief of ‘Delwar Bahini’ and accused in the case for torturing the woman in Begumgunj, Noakhali.

Acting on a tip-off, Begumganj police launched a drive in Eklashpur village last night and arrested Sohag and Noor, said Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, superintendent of police, Noakhali.

Meanwhile, the victim filed a rape case against Delwar, chief of ‘Delwar Bahini’, and his second-in-command Abul Kalam, last night with Begumganj Model Police Station.

The woman (victim) also filed another case under Women and Child Repression Prevention Act against Delwar and Abul Kalam, said Begumganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Harun-or-Rashid.

The OC said Delwar, who is already in police custody, will be shown arrested in the rape case filed last night. Police were trying to arrest Abul Kalam, he added.

Delwar had raped the women twice on gunpoint in the last year, while Abul Kalam had attempted to rape her once, according to the case statement.

On September 2, Delwar and his accomplices allegedly broke into the house of the woman, aged about 36, at night and tortured her as she had repeatedly refused Delwar’s immoral proposals earlier, said the OC, quoting the case statement.
