71 more tested positive for COVID-19 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, – A total of 71 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours till this noon after testing 816 samples in five COVID-19 laboratories in the district.

Among the newly detected patients, 65 are from Chattogram city and six from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

With the new cases, the total number of infected patients now stands at 19,116 in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

Among the total infected persons, 13,687 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,429 are from different upazilas of the district.

Meanwhile, the total number of recovered patients from the deadly coronavirus rose to 15012 with the curing of 58 more people in the last 24 hours here.

“The recovered patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as they were found coronavirus negative in two consecutive real-time PCR tests,” said Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi.

Besides, 1,284 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city as 288 died while the rest 2,532 are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the district, he said.

“The percentage of recovery rate stands at 78.59 in the district,” he added.
