Shaheed Minars being erected at 108 Sundarganj Govt. Primary Schools

GAIBANDHA, – Sundarganj upazila administration has taken up a plan to construct Shaheed Minars in 108 primary schools of the upazila in celebration of the Mujib Year.

Education office sources said, though there are 259 government primary schools in the upazila but many of the schools have no Shaheed Minars.

Keeping this in view, the upazila administration took decision to construct Shaheed Minars in the schools on Mujib Year, the birth centenary of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“Construction works of 74 Shaheed Minars have already been completed and the rest would be finished by December 2020, the sources said.

Earlier, TK two lakh was allotted for 68 Shaheed Minars each and TK 1.50 lakh for 40 Shaheed Minars each under annual development programme of the upazila parishad.

Head Master of Shantiram Hazipara Govt. Primary School Md. Shahjahan Mia said, the Shaheed Minar is a must for the students as teachers and students are unable to pay tributes to the language martyred on 21st February in absence of Saheed minars.

The teachers and students of the schools are very happy to see the construction work of the Shaheed Minar on their school premises, he added.

Upazila Education Officer AKM Harun Ur Rashid said, the upazila education committee adopted the decision to build Shaheed Minars in the primary schools on Mujib Barsho to keep the Mujib Year memorable to the students.

The education officer said, the newly built Shaheed Minars would be inaugurated in the month of February, 2021 in phases.
