The film ‘Bhalobasa Pritilata’, to be made in the memory of Pritilata Waddedar, the first woman revolutionary of the subcontinent who gave her life in the anti-British freedom struggle, will present a glorious history to the new generation, said Information Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Hasan Mahmud said a press release.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the mohrat ceremony of the film based on Selina Hossain’s novel with the grant of the Ministry of Information for the fiscal year 2019-20 at the Information Building auditorium in Kakrail on Thursday (September 24).

Presided over by fiction writer Selina Hossain, Chittagong University Vice Chancellor Dr. Shirin Akhtar spoke as a special guest. Director General of the Department of Film and Publications S. M. Golam Kibria spoke as an invited speaker and culture organization Amin Helali. Pradeep Ghosh, the director of ‘Bhalobasa Pritilata’, Bappa Majumder, the music director and the actor Mannan Hira, spoke on the upcoming film. Looking at the history, the Information Minister said that at one time when women didn’t come out of the house, the way in which meritorious Pritilata was associated with the movement was an exemplary example in the entire subcontinent. Today, a movie is being made about Pritilata and it is hoped that it will be screened in India and other countries across the country.

If properly constructed, it will enrich history and play an important role in informing the new generation who do not know the history of the revolutionary movement in the 1930s, he said.

“If the new generation wants to take the country to its dream destination, it has to be inspired by values, patriotism and affection from peoples, and the film industry can play a huge role in building that people,” he said. Hassan also said the film is not just entertainment, not just history, it inspires people.

Every movie has to have a message.
The Minister said the journey of film industry in our country started with the establishment of FDC in 1956 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Our Prime Minister Bangabandhu’ daughter Sheikh Hasina is a culture loving person. Culture is practiced in her family.
