Follow traffic laws to reduce road accidents: Rangpur DIG

RANGPUR – Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Bangladesh Police for Rangpur Range Devas Bhattacharya today said the extent of road accidents would be reduced to a great extent if people follow traffic laws.

“Everybody should follow traffic laws and awareness of drivers and common people can play the most effective role in preventing road accidents,” he said at a pre-rally discussion before inaugurating the Traffic Week-2018.

Later, he inaugurated the week by releasing balloons at a function held on the Police Hall premises here as the chief guest.

The district police chalked out programmes including bringing out of a colourful rally with participation of officials and employees of district and police administrations, teachers, students and civil society members and distribution of awareness building leaflets on the occasion.

Presided over by Police Super Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Abu Rafa Md Arif, Additional Police Supers Abu Maruf Hasan and Saifur Rahman Saif addressed the function.

In his speech, the DIG said the extent of road accidents would definitely reduce with the increase in public awareness of traffic laws and tendency of common people to abide by those laws. “It is not possible to prevent road accidents by police alone.

The people should come forward to assist police while driving and driving skill of drivers should be enhanced side by side with creating their more awareness,” he said.
