649 indigent market employees get foodstuffs in Khulna

KHULNA,  – Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque today distributed foodstuffs among 649 indigent employees of the New Market Shop Owners’ Association to mitigate their livelihood related sufferings in the on going COVID-19 pandemic .

City mayor distributed eight kilograms of rice and others relief materials each poverty stricken people at Khulna New Market premises as part of the ‘Humanitarian Assistance Programme’ announced by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the on going Covid-19 pandemic situation following health safety guidelines and rules, set by the government.

While distributing essential commodities the city mayor said that the common people of the country will must get food during coronavirus outbreak.

“Everyone should follow the government’s health safety guidelines to get rid of Corona,” he said, adding that “the government will continue to distribute relief materials among the helpless, destitute and impoverished people”.

General Secretary of Khulna city Awami League MDA Babul Rana, Director of Khulna Labor Directorate Mizanur Rahman, Councilor of Ward No. 17 Sheikh Hafizur Rahman Hafiz, General Secretary of New Market Shop Owners Association Maksudur Rahman Gora, among others, were present on the occasion .

Abdul Gaffar Biswas, President of Khulna New Market Shop Owners Association, presided over the function.

Later, City Mayor joined a view-exchange meeting at Shiromani Eye Hospital and inaugurated tree plantation programme at its premises marking the birth centenary celebration programme of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Chairman of Fultala Upazila Parishad Sheikh Akram Hossain, Vice President of Khulna city Awami League Beg Liaquat Ali, Director of Eye Hospital Dr Mohammad Rob, among others, were present on the occasion.
