Forged cosmetics factory unearthed in Rajshahi, 5 held

RAJSHAHI, – National Intelligence Agency (NSI) has unearthed a fake cosmetics factory in Ramjibanpur village under Puthiya upazila in the district last night.

A team of the NSI, being informed, conducted a raid led by Executive Magistrate Romana Akter in the village and found the unauthorized factory manufacturing various local and foreign branded cosmetics there.

The team seized huge forged cosmetics worth around Taka one crore and arrested five persons including owner of the factory Masud Rana on charge of manufacturing, possessing and marketing of cosmetics unlawfully for long.

After the overnight operation, the team also seized machinery and ingredients for producing the cosmetics from the factory that has also been shut until further order.

NSI Deputy Director Syed Hossain told journalists that Masud Rana was involved in manufacturing and marketing spurious and forged cosmetics to various local and regional marketing through his appointed dealers for a long time illegally.

A case was recorded with Puthiya Police Station in this connection and the arrested persons along with the seized goods were handed over to police today, he added.
